Something to think about :)

Great article.. Really makes you think.
I am also taking that class! That is an interesing article.
Wow! I really enjoyed reading this article. It really made me think! I think one of the most important things is people first language, because we do not want people to be defined by their "disability." We should focus on their abilities.
I had SED 104 last semester. Such an eye opening class! Before I never thought it mattered how you worded a person's disability but after understanding first person language it seems very important. I'm always getting on to people when they don't use person first language now! Haha!
I had sed 104 last semester as well. This class is one of the main reasons I switched from elem. education to special education! I really enjoyed all of the basics of special education and how to create a classroom enviorment that enables them to learn just like their fellow peers. We had to do observation hours in this course at different levels and settings of special ed. I went to a highschool level and elem. level special education classrooms and loved them both. I saw how the teacher interacted with the children and how the children also interacted in a collabortive setting. It was a great class!
Once I read and learned about Person-First Language in my SED104 class last semester, I am always catching people not using it and it's surprisingly aggervating! LOL! I mean I don't get upset with people, because most people don't know.. I just think it is funny how I always immediatly think.. "That was very incorrect of you to say!" lol
