Should this be an issue?

Many parents are upset over palm-scanning in a school district in MD.  A child's palm is scanned and that's how the lunch is paid for or recording of the meal.  Parents are really upset, but is it really a big deal?

I think that is a silly way to do things, but I also think it is a silly think to be upset over. Overall I think the entire issue is silly, just have a lunch number like we always did and it will never be a problem.

yeah, $300,000 to implement this palm scanning thing....in education there are way more things that are needed!

It's different. Also if it costs that much, it is a bit ridiculous. The thing is, people are able to steal other people's lunch money with the number pads they used at my school or even birthdays or a given lunch number. It could be smarter to swipe a palm. You'd ensure no one but your child is using their lunch money

I really dont see why the school would spend money on a palm scaner when they could spent the money on books or something else they need... but in my high school we had to scan our finger to pay for lunch. It was more of annoying than it was helpful.

I really don't see the point in spending a lot of money on something so silly. We can just do it the simply way on the computer at the check out. The money could have been spent somewhere else where it was needed.

I see no point in having this in schools. There are more important things that schools need. That money could have been spent on something else that could have helped the school.
