Whitney Hutchinson :)
Hi! My name is Whitney Hutchinson. I come from Jackson in Breathitt County. It's the perfect example of small town and everyone knows everyone. I am a sophomore and I am a DHH major and ASL minor. I don't have a lot of experience with children with disabilities but I'm very much interested. I think I realized this was what I wanted to do after working at my current job at a bank. We have several customers with disabilities, everything from the deaf to physically disabilities. I seen firsthand how someone there to help makes a difference in peoples' everyday lives, and I want to be a part of that. I am very excited about this class!!!

A fellow DHH major and ASL minor! I love it! are you focussing on middle school or elementary?
It's exciting to have both of you in this class - and to see you already connecting here on the blog with one anther. Whitney, I grew up in a small town, too. It's where I first learned sign language when I was THIRTEEN years old.
How did you learn sign language?
My church offered classes :) My youth group leaders' daughter was deaf. We became good friends. So, she taught me some and I learned more from the class. I started interpreting the church services for her and have never stopped signing :)
Elemetary :)
I don't know a lot of sign language sadly. :( I don't start my ASL classes til next semester but I am very excited about it!
