Hi everyone, my name is Erin Wood and I'm an LBD major for one main reason. My uncle has cerebral palsy and lives with my family and I so we can take care of him and although some days are very hard, seeing him happy makes it all worth it! I hope to graduate and become a child life specialist in children's hospitals to help families cope with disabilities and/or terminal illnesses. I want them to know that not everyday is easy and not everyone understands what you have to go through in a day and how many sacrifices have to be made sometimes to make their days go around but that it's worth it just to see them smile! I wouldn't be where I am today without the support system my family has had and being an LBD major is like giving back to the community the graciousness I've been given in this life. I can wait to see what this class has in store for me and getting closer to my dream :)

Wow!! What an amazing career goal! We all face challenges in life and when we are given the opportunity to work with and care for others who often have greater challenges we develop a perspective that is so unique. To use that perspective to assist others who may face some of those same challenges is a gift. I hope you'll make connections with the course material as we go through the semester and share your experiences.
