Something to think about :)

I am relatively new to the Kentucky area and would love to work with deaf children.  I know there is a residential school for the deaf in Danville, and I also know that the chances of being hired as a teacher there is pretty slim unless someone retires.  Does anyone happen to know of mainstream schools (teaching deaf children in a school also teaching hearing children)?  I know there are openings for interpreters, but I have not heard of teachers concentrating solely on deaf children and signing.  I hope everyone has a great week.

About me

Hello my name is Samantha Ritter I go by Sammy and I am a LBD major. I have always wanted to become a teacher, but up untill high school I didnt know what I wanted to teach. Then one day it just hit me, you see I have always had a learning disability but I have never had a teacher that could relate to what I was going through and I also had some that thought that I wouldnt make it. So my goal is to become the teacher that understands what its like to have a disability and I will push my students to follow their dreams whatever they may be.

Hello.

My name is Lisa Rhodus, I have lived in Madison county my whole life. I have dreamed of being a teacher most of my life. When I started elementary school I lived with my grandparents, & my aunt she had the mind of a 5 to 6 year old and I was never told anything but she had a very high fever when she was little and that caused it. I would go to school everyday and then come home and try to teach everything I learned that day to her. This went on until she passed when I was in middle school. After that I just tried to do my best in school and kept the mindset that I was going to be the first one in my family to go to college. While I was in high school I spent a lot of time in the special education room working with the children that has also impacted me a lot. I love being around the children and being there to help them learn. So these are the few reason I am going into the education field, I am a Elementary / Special Education double major. I would love to get to know some of the people around me that have the same passion as me.
