Could anyone tell me exactly where or which worksheet is on blackboard that could assist me with the questions about Transitive, Intransitive, and Equative? Please and thank you!

10-17-12
Please read about my experience on 10/17/12……. Yesterday during some of my time in a regular ed classroom at Model Lab in Richmond, I witnessed one of the most heart breaking and most inspiring incidents I have ever been apart of.
The teacher in the 4th grade classroom I was in asked all the students to get a partner for an activity. Every student seemed to be finding a partner until I noticed a student who I have worked with before who has been diagnosed with a form of Autism, standing in front of the classroom without a partner. You could see the distress in his face as he started to cry and swing his arm when it seemed to him that he was not going to have a partner. I was about to start crying myself until one of the children walked up to him and told him he would be his partner. The awful face that he was making was immediately replaced by a smile. And EVERYTHING was perfect in his world again.
I tell you this story to tell reinforce what I have ALWAYS told people when dealing with people that have a disability.. they just want a FRIEND.. that is all. EVERYONE wants to feel accepted and loved!
Volunteers needed to support special olympics!
Friday November 2nd there is a Chili Cook off in Berea (police vs. fire department). This is the only source of money for the special olympics in Berea/Richmond area. The main organizer is moving away and will not be coordinating events anymore. If you are interested, please email Jennifer Jones <jjones@bereaky.gov> It is from 5 pm to 10 pm at Shannon Johnson Elementary. If you aren't able to volunteer please spread the word, and come by and taste some chili :)

Class Debate!!!
Ok. So I've been watching the debate this evening as I've completed the test. As a part of class this coming Monday we will be having a DEBATE! I will organize it a bit differently than the Presidential Debate. Nonetheless, you will have an opportunity to ask questions, respond to questions and to MODERATE!
Content of the Debate: Chapter 8, Language and Students with Intellectual Disabilities.
Team A will debate Team B.
Team C will ask questions.
Team D will listen as the judges and score the answers each team gives and responds to the other team.
Before the Debate begins each team will be given an opportunity to review a few "sample questions" and to develop a set of questions to be put into the Question Pool and made available to the Moderator to be asked.
Each team will have an opportunity to play the role of Debate, Questioner & Judge. The team who has the most points will get to add these to ANY assignment they choose.
My recommendation is that you prepare by reading chapter 8 and review any resources on Blackboard in the Weekly Resources area.
Group study
Is there anyone, or more than one, person who would like to get together and complete the test? I'm on campus on Thursday. Or if someone wouldn't mind emailing me or posting some important points I missed last night.

SED Question
I was working at a school function the other night and a little girl came up to me and said "I'm special Ed!" I just kind of smiled at her but the more I thought about it, the more questions I had. What would make this child go around and announce it? Would her parents be constantly telling her that she is different? or maybe the school is telling her that she is different? I really don't know how I feel about this. I'm not a special ed major so maybe one of you could shed some light on what children who are in Special Ed classes are told to say?
Observations
This past week in my observations, I observed a student who
was always fidgeting in his general education class. The teacher told me that
she had been struggling with what to do because she was flustered that he was
not learning to his full potential, she was not teaching him appropriately, and
he was distracting her and other students during classroom instruction time by
not staying in his seat, talking out of term, playing with objects in his desk, and being
aggressive towards students. In my first observation I had noticed that the
student was doing these things when he was bored and it was refreshing that
when I came back the second time that the teacher had talked to the parents and
had something done for the student. The next time I came back into the
classroom, the student had a little sheet of paper taped to his desk that had
four questions on it: Am I on task? Am I playing with objects in my desk? Am I
being nice to others? Am I talking out of turn? The teacher then explained to
me that the student would be doing self-monitoring of his behavior. Every time
the teacher noticed him doing one of these things, she would give the student a
look or tap him on the shoulder to correct him and he would have to place a
tally mark next to the behavior he had been doing. This really seemed to work,
the student was more focused and nicer to his classmates. He was even helping
his classmates with their worksheets when he was done. I really liked the way
the teacher did this small correction to make a huge impact on her student. She
noticed something was wrong and took initiative; it is refreshing to see this
in the classrooms that sometimes a behavior problem can just be something
small, and fixing this small problem can change the way a child grows in the
classroom. I also liked how the teacher implemented the instruction. The
student was never called out for his behavior, he was just given a simple,
quick correction which only he and the teacher knew about, he was not called
out in front of his classmates and was not embarrassed and I think that is
essential to stopping a behavior without berating or embarrassing a student for
their behavior. This teacher really inspired me that day and I hope to have more observations like this.
HEAVEN’S VERY SPECIAL CHILD
Hello to all my fellow Special Education majors, as this
semester progresses and classes keep getting harder, I pulled out an old poem
my dad used to say to me as a child when I had questions about my uncle and why
his cerebral palsy caused him to be different than us. As an adult, I now know
he is not different he just accomplishes the same things in a different
manor. But every night I am up late
doing a paper for an education class, or getting frustrated about a grade I
refer back to this poem which helps me remember that in a couple years, the
grades and schooling won’t matter, only what I apply from my education to help
these very special children succeed and how special of people it takes to
really make a difference in these children's lives. As I continue on with all
my work, I have no doubt in my mind I chose the right major for me, I cannot
wait to see what this major has in store for me and I know all of this hard
work will show in the end! Hope this finds you all well and brings you all
peace and comfort during this difficult semester as well. Also, this poem is very old so please excuse the fact that
it is not written in person first language and/or some of the word phrasing.
HEAVEN’S
VERY SPECIAL CHILD
A
meeting was held quite far from Earth!
It's
time again for another birth.
Said
the Angels to the LORD above,
This
Special Child will need much love.
His
progress may be very slow,
Accomplishments
he may not show.
And
he'll require extra care
From
the folks he meets down there.
He
may not run or laugh or play,
His
thoughts may seem quite far away,
In
many ways he won't adapt,
And
he'll be known as handicapped.
So
let's be careful where he's sent,
We
want his life to be content.
Please
LORD, find the parents who
Will
do a special job for you.
They
will not realize right away
The
leading role they're asked to play,
But
with this child sent from above
Comes
stronger faith and richer love.
And
soon they'll know the privilege given
In
caring for their gift from Heaven.
Their
precious charge, so meek and mild,
Is
HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD.
